I have been teaching classes for about 7 years having completed the British Wheel of Yoga Diploma and the Yoga Sanctuary Southampton teacher training programme.

I have been a practising Yogi for a number of years and have enjoyed the many benefits which occur from maintaining a regular practice. Yoga has become a way of life for me and I love everything  Yoga! I have been teaching classes for about 7 years, since completing the British Wheel of Yoga Diploma and the Yoga Sanctuary Southampton teacher training programme.

My daughter arrived 17 months ago and during the pregnancy my yoga practice certainly kept both of us well and prepared us nicely for the birth. Having practiced yoga for a number of years and being a teacher it was only natural that I would just keep practicing, but it was through attending a generic yoga class that I would adapt my own practice to meet the many changes that occur within pregnancy. I must admit what I would have really enjoyed was a Yoga specifically tailored for Pregnancy, but the only problem was the lack of options available for Mum’s to be.

As I wanted to help other ladies through pregnancy and birth preparation  I decided to join, as a teacher, to the national organisation called Yogabellies who specialise in providing pregnancy yoga, mum & baby/toddler yoga, amongst other Mummy things. Practicing yoga during pregnancy ensures that you maintain a level of fitness, keeping you strong and toned. It eliminates back pain and bad posture. It allows you to learn breathing techniques and relaxation for birth preparation. The added bonus is that you get to meet with other pregnant ladies too, so building a network of like-minded Mum’s inevitably happens. There is no need to have any experience of yoga when joining a YogaBellies class. The journey of yoga does not just end there as the benefits of practicing continue beyond pregnancy, given that we live in a fast paced world, just taking that time out to attend a class is vital in nurturing ourselves to ensure that we are de-stress and re energise.
